(ALBUM RELEASE) Here's a taste of SCRIPTURES Hunters EP. The presentation on this teaser video should give you a good idea what you're in for. I've been staring at a copy of this EP this month, while we've been working at HMS on their full length this month. Check out a live set on KEXP's Sonarchy Radio here and see them on the 17th.
HYPE!
(ON TOP) This has been a cool week. HYPE! came to real life. I mixed 10 S>U>B>P<O<P artists in three locations, including Mudhoney, Sera Cahoone and Grant Olsen on the very top of the Space Needle. I also met the Godfather of Grunge, Jack Endino, up there.
Even the Sub Pop Mega Mart came back. When I spotted it in Georgetown on Friday, I had this memory from being in high school in Montana. I'm talking 1997. I used to send my friends who were visiting Seattle on a specific mission to the Mega Mart to pick me up CD's. One of my all-time favorites was Hype! The Motion Picture Soundtrack. They did proper multi-track live recordings of the shows featured in the movie and they sounded perfect.
Even though I've pledged my Seattle allegiance to B>A>R>S>U>K for many years, I gotta hand it to the Sub Pop folks for their "world domination" mentality -- and for being super great to work with in the process.
May 2013
Announcing…. My vinyl-only, European-import only, solo electronic LP.
Or possibly not, but here's a snap from Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona. I'm headed right back on the road through the US on Memorial Day. In the second half of June, I'll dive into an LP with SCRIPTURES as well resuming work on the DEVOTION LP. May '13 included: Kurt Vile & Metz at KEXP, Devotion vocals, and a tour of Europe with The Postal Service.
Iron Lung
(FREIGHT TRAIN) Jensen from SOCIETY NURSE and IRON LUNG, just dropped off copies of the Society Nurse LP fresh off tours on the East Coast and New Zealand.
We also recently knocked out 2 Iron Lung tracks -- recorded and mixed. One to appear on a forthcoming Sub Pop Records compilation (!) the other to kick off the new Iron Lung cassette "Mix Tape II."
