(OPEN FOR BUSINESS) When Police Teeth arrived at HMS on October 28, 2011, I had only had power installed for less than an hour. They opened the new studio with a weekend worth of recording that yielded more than two-thirds of new self-titled LP. We were running so much ahead of schedule on the second day that they decided to "write in the studio." One the 2-3 new jams is my personal favorite on the record "Emmanuelle In Renton." Tall Chris on vocals w/ some incognito BGV's from an old bandmate. The 12" LP is available on Latest Flame Records.
Scriptures
In the modern, multi-track software on laptop era, recording an album in a handful of locales by multiple engineers has become pretty darn common -- if not the norm. While it's awesome to do it all, it's also fun to do one piece a recording and then lose track of it for a while. Such was the case when I met up with SCRIPTURES guys in May.
They came bearing gifts -- the debut Scriptures LP on vinyl and cassette. It had been a while since I thought of them and even further since we tracked drums and basics at Two Sticks. After that session, I did a handful of overdub sessions (in at least 2 different places) and pinch hit on mixing duties with Jeff from Scriptures.
Scriptures are the evolved incarnation of The Process of a Still Life, who were once Missoula, Montana's answer to Explosions in the Sky. The new sound is equally as epic, but dirtier and perhaps even psychedelic.
I was psyched to have the guys down to HMS to track their new EP in June.
